GREERS FERRY LAKE YACHT CLUB

 Cruising. Racing. Living.

The Greers Ferry Yacht Club has a very active group of sailors who share the enjoyment of sailing on Greers Ferry Lake. Our lighthearted, eclectic nature helps to create a warm, inviting atmosphere for everyone. Because they enjoy the company of all types of sailors, the club is relatively informal. They are not like what may be the stereotypical yacht club with a fancy clubhouse and members walking around in blue blazers. They just enjoy sailing and socializing together.

No matter what your level of experience or your interests, if you enjoy some aspect of the sailing life, there is a place for you in with the Greers Ferry Yacht Club

 Cruising.

Since the completion of the Greers Ferry Dam in 1964 Greers Ferry Lake has been known as the cleanest and most scenic in the state. With over 40,000 acres of water it is one of the best sailing lakes in the country.

 Racing.

Racing is a great way to hone your craft and pick up some tips from our generous members. The GFLYC holds numerous regattas throughout the year with many of our sailors always looking for some good crew.

 Living.

There is no better place to make lasting memories than with your friends and family on Greers Ferry Lake.

The GFLYC is the perfect catalyst for those life experiences.

The Cleon Challenge

Let the challenge begin! …agan!

The Cleon Challenge is a standing race that can be done any day of the year and as many times throughout the year as you would like to do it.

To complete the Challenge you start your time when you leave the Eden Isle no wake zone. You round Goat, Taylor(Shiloh), and Snake Islands and then stop your time when you cross back into the no wake zone. You can round the 3 islands to port or starboard. A course map is attached. The course is roughly a 12 mile loop.

Please send in your times and information using the form below. We want to keep track of the Cleon runs this year and share them periodically so that all club members can enjoy each other’s sailing. We’ll handle the calculation for the corrected time.

There is a flag prize that will go to the boat that achieves the best corrected time for the year at the EOY banquet and of course you get bragging rights!

Take the challenge single-handed, with your family, or form a super crew and go for the win. Anything goes, just take the challenge and have fun!
