About.

The Greers Ferry Lake Yacht Club became an official state recognized organization in 1978 when our first Commodore, Dodd Daggett, filed paperwork with the state of Arkansas. We're coming up on 50 years!

GFLYC holds a number of single and series races every year. We also hold a number of social and casual cruising events year round. With approximately 44,000 acres, there is plenty of open water for great sailing on Greers Ferry Lake.

Our eclectic nature is our strength. We have members who enjoy racing and others who prefer to relax and cruise. No matter what your level of experience or your interests, if you enjoy some aspect of the sailing life, there is a place for you in the GFLYC!

Our Mission

The Greers Ferry Lake Yacht Club aims to create lasting relationships through the craft of sailing and the enjoyment on and in the waters of Greers Ferry Lake.

Twenty years from now, you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than those you did. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from safe harbor. Catch the wind in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.
— Mark Twain

What made it special was that we are all shipmates and sailors. We all speak the same language and share the same aspirations for our pleasure and anticipation of that day when we go to blue water. Listen, can’t you hear the slap of the waves against the hull as we cut through the water with great white clouds above surrounded by a blue sky.
